Traditional Parenting

"Respect for All" is designed to teach traditional parenting skills in conjunction with compatible, relevant contemporary parenting techniques necessary for parenting today.

A variety of current topics are discussed at various activities and are used to assist participants in becoming confident using these skills and techniques.  Sessions include hands-on demonstrations, presentations, small group work, videos and practical family assignments.

Family Violence Program

The Family Violence Program targets families experiencing domestic violence, in or out of the home.

Using the holistic approach, the families are guided to explore all options that are available to assist them on their healing journey.

Various programs will be made available:
- Anger Resolution Techniques (A.R.T.)

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Family Violence Coordinator.

Family Literacy

"Down the Reading/Rhyming Road" involves children and parents in fun activities with stories, poems, music and crafts.  It builds better relationships between children and parents.  It provides parents with ideas for collecting craft materials in the home.  It gives parents practice in working with different art media, such as finger paint and playdough.  It gives children the freedom to be creative in using the stories for craft ideas.

Why is Family Literacy so important?

Statistics show that children who are surrounded by positive language and the written word do well in school.  Learning good communication and reading skills help parents to be more confident while working with their children.

What benefits will you gain from this program?

Parents will find that there will be an improvement in relationships both at home and school.  The completion of this program will give parents the incentive to take more self-development courses.

Who is involved?

Parents and their children will work together at most sessions.

What will we be doing?

We will learn about reading styles and techniques, how to choose books and rhymes, the value of music and play and participating in literacy activities, such as singing and crafts.

Please contact the Family Literacy Coordinator for more information and how to register.

Circle Project Children's Centre

The Circle Project Children's Centre is a unique facility which was specifically designed for children.  Here, we offer a safe and happy environment where children are viewed as resourceful, competent people.

The Children's Centre is fully subsidized childcare licensed by the Child Care Division of Community Resources and Employment.  It can accommodate 65 children between the ages of 18 months to 12 years.  Ten of these spaces are available to provide respite daycare spaces for parents who are attending treatment programs requiring temporary respite, in crisis situations.  A referral is necessary with no fee involved.

Circle Project Infant & Toddler Centre

After two years of searching and planning, the opening of the Infant & Toddler Centre occurred on March 28, 2011.  The dedication ceremony, lead by Elder Sam Isaac, included the traditional practices of song and prayer.

Located on the corner of Dewdney and Lewvan at 4401 Dewdney Avenue, the centre is licensed for 36 children, 0 to 4 years of age.
